I realise that this is a list that can never be complete! I know that there are a few rogue entries that have slipped past quality control because of their sheer entertainment value but my arbitrary rules for Boltonian-ness are:
 
• Interesting people (above all) - who were born and / or educated in Bolton.
 
• Footballers - born and / or educated in Bolton and played at League level.
 
• Cricketers - born and / or educated in Bolton and played at County level.
 
• Other sportspeople - born and / or educated in Bolton (and having actually ever won anything).
 
• Bolton MPs and Mayors - are in whether from Bolton or not.
 
• Not necessarily born and / or educated in Bolton - but made a significant contribution to the town / had something named after them etc - maybe.
 
• Eaten by lions etc in Bolton - yes!
 
NB Businesspeople and other professionals are not automatically interesting, big or clever unless they also fall into one or both of the previous two categories...

Nominating yourself without having a very good case indeed is both sad and very unlikely to work...
